Default Need Help w/ Swap...

I've searched and searched...but can't seem to find a write up for a D16y7 to D16y8...

I have a complete D16y8 engine in my garage, and I wanted to put it in my 96 Civic HB...Is this a plug and play swap including running the vtec wires? Also my 96 civic harness does not look like it will plug into the D16y8 distributer, so can i use the D16y7 distributer when I do the swap? Please help and suggestions would be great....

you can use the y7 dissy. The only problem I had was the y7 harness pluging into ex ecu(I think it's a p2p), so I just got the y8 harness. And the o2 sensor for the y8 plugs into the chassis and the y7 plugs into the engine harness. In case you want to use the y8 harness.

Why didn't your harness plug up to the ecu...what year civic do you have...I thought that all the 96-98 ECUs would plug up to my 96 civic...Did you use ur own D16y7 engine harness on the block or a D16y8 engine harness...

I origonally tried to use the y7 harness and there was one little piece that pevented it from plugging up, I could have cut it off and it would have been fine. But I was also doing an auto to manual conversion, so I decided to make it as simple as possible and not have all those extra connectors from the auto trans and I got the y8 harness. I should have gone obd1 right off the start so I didn't get the secondary o2 code, but if you are adding vtec wires to your y7 harness you should be fine
