Default 02 Sensor Question????

Hi guys I started my swap of my D16Z6 yesterday all I have done so far was pull my little CX motor out. I was wondering if I can use my stock CX Harness it looked very similiar to a Z6 but if I use it what do I do about the 02 sensor. I believe the CX one has a 2 wire and the new Z6 has 4 wires. Do i just use the old CX sensor or do I have to rewire the new Z6 one??? Well just need this info to finish up today. I will post pics when I am done it's my first swap so all is pretty good so far....

If you are keeping your stock ecu, you can just keep your same sensor. If using that motors ecu you will need to replace the O2 plug on your harness for a 4 wire and run the wires back to the ecu.

you need to set up vtec some how.. either off a rpm activated switch or through the ecu... id use a z6 harness just cause of vtec.

ok I am gonna use my stock ECU and Stock CX 02 for now but If I add the Z6 ecu later can I just still use the stock CX 02 sensor? The ECU will give me VTEC but if anything I will just get a check engine light won't affect driveablity will it? Will VTEC not work without a 4 wire 02 senser?

Correct, if you are using a stock ecu your stock 2 wire sensor will be fine for right now. Once you change the ecu there's gonna be the vtec/4 wire o2 sensor/ and knock sensor to worry about it. For right now you are good to go.

Im assuming that wiring wise the SOHC are similar to the DOHC. I learned all of my cars on DOHC vtec and I've done very few SOHC so if im mistaken please forgive me, but I am pretty sure that's how wiring goes. Is that Z6 you are using is an OBD 1 or OBD 2 ?

it is OBD1!!! but I think I am gonna get a deal on an ECU either monday or tuesday guess I cannot just plug it in and get VTEC huh??? I am getting more confused as this swap gets close to completetion. So if I add the Z6 OBD1 ecu I have to use the 4 wire 02 and run those wires direct to my computer if I cannot locate a different plug from a sohc vtec harness right??? I thought you only had to run more wires for DOHC swaps guess I was wrong can anyone share some more light on this situation.

If you want to make all the wiring simple, just get an EX wiring harness. Its already all wired and has everything so you don't have to fiddle with it.

Unfortunately the CX harness you have you will have to add all that happy stuff we mentioned. Dont' be confused, it really sounds complicated but is very simple trust me if me a 61 year old man like myself can do it... im sure a younging like yourself can.

Hope that helps.
