Depending on the year of your cx, I believe 92 was the only year that CX's came pre-wired for VTEC. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes ALL 1992 Civics were pre-wired for VTEC.

Re: cx harness with z6? (RabbittZ)
i've got a 94 cx.....have to run 2 vtec wires. If you've got a 1-wire o2 sensor, you'll want to get a 4-wire o2 sensor with the z6 ecu. And you might have to run wires for that as well.
It'll probably be easier to get an ex/si engine bay wiring harness if you can. I had one for mine and am only having to run the 2 vtec wires to the passenger firewall.

also the cx distributor "could" work on the z6....the only thing different is the mounting holes. You will have to find a way to bolt it up to a z6 head since the holes don't match up perfect......so in other words....find a z6 dist.
