Its cheaper to sleeve and/or deckplate from GE than buy a Dart block. A majority of the people don't need the iron mains and anything else they provide.

it being a closed deck...im wondering how well it would cool the motor..

im guessing this is more an extreme high horsepower drag race block..

The block should be much stiffer than our OEM blocks, Matt. I also like the closed deck on their block. The iron sleeves are great if you're building a race engine as you can always re-sleeve it. I personally like the spray bore products, but I understand that it is extremely difficult to perform properly.

I'd love to have one.

Yup. Says on the page it is made for very high hp competition use. Think about it. Circuit racing doesn't require huge hp (in fact it would probably upset the balance of the car), so the logical conclusion is drag racing.

If I were building a competition drag motor I'd be drooling over that thing.

And as that is a brand new block made from scratch, not a filled stock block, I don't think the closed deck design will cause any cooling problems. Most production engines are closed deck.

I am excited to see this. Hopefully there will be more products like this in the future, as the american perf. parts manufacturers who have traditionally made stuff for domestics realize there is a market for brand new and better than stock heads/blocks, etc. I am surprised the JDM manufacturers have ignored this market for so long. It would be great to open up a summit catalog and see heads, blocks, and crate motors brand new!! Great for the peeps like me who love to mail order. Can you tell that I am excited ??

i hope its more affordable than a oem block.

if this was the case people may opt to stop stealing motors and building them up for cheaper.

You've got to be kidding.
I'd bet just that block is at least a couple grand!
