how effective is the blackjaxx system on clifford alarms?
I recently had a clifford concept 600 installed on my car. I really like the alarm and the fact that it has different sensors and a radar to detect interior movement. I also like the blackjaxx anti-carjacking/theft system. but for those that have experience with it, how effective is it? can i rely on it as a moderately good form of protection?
thanks
thanks
Blackjaxx is actually off unless if the installer programs the feature on. With the feature on, the valet code must be entered after the car is started every time. If the valet code is not entered the car will stall 30 seconds later and the alarm will not disable with the keychain (Clifford realized that the keychain will still be in the car) so the valet code must be entered to turn of the alarm and close the ignition and starter kill relays. BTW, yes it works great, but is more of a pain than it is worth IMO.
BTW,
on the choice of the alarm, I have had a Concept 400 in the past and now have the AV4 and am a fan of Clifford.

Funny thing, the second day after I had the alarm installed I let someone in my passenger side after I had driven the car for a while, I wasn't aware that it arms whenever any door is opened--so my friend gets in, I drive a bit, and then the car goes crazy! I also didn't know how to turn off the alert, so I'm sitting there on the side of a (thankfully) not busy street with the alarm going crazy. I finally called the place that did the install and asked them what to do

the shop I had everything done at carried the AV4, but they said they'd never sold one and didn't even keep them in stock....
yeah thats exactly what its supposed to do.. if someone opens the door (like your passenger getting in) or a carjacker suddenly opens the door/forces you to open the door.. then you just give up the car to them and they drive off w/ the key and alarm remote... then after a while the car shuts off and brake lights/parking lights flash and siren goes off and can't be restarted until you enter the code...
I like Clifford alarms also
my family has been using Cliffords for decades since the days when the remotes had ONE button Lolz..

I believe the Clifford even takes it one step further by montioring the engines RPM so it SHUTS DOWN the vehicle when the potiential thief is rounding a corner or coming to a stop.
Other brands with Anti-CarJack features just sound the siren and activate the starter kill while the vehicle is in motion. So if the theif is gutsy, he can just keep driving the car and not turn it off or stall it.
The CLIFFORD BlackJaxx actually interrupts the ignition circuit and causes the vehicle to shut down. I used to install CLIFFORDs years ago during the days of the IntelliVoice, Concept 10, 30, 50, etc.
