checking check engine lite w jumper harness

Default checking check engine lite w jumper harness
was wondering if anybody knows how to check my codes on the ecu .its a 97 civic obd2 with a jumper harness to obd1 ecu .i plug in the scanner but it doesnt let me read anything.scanner reads no communication.i know the tuner can check it but would like to check it my self any info is appreciated.

You can't run an OBD2 scanner on an OBD1 ECU.

Jump the service connector under the dash by the ECU and the CEL will flash the codes.

your probably running a knock sensor code or a o 2
