Can I drive my car like this?!
I MIGHT have bent valve, which explains alot of things that my car does.
I don't have any money and since I'm goin to School, I'll probly be poor for quite awhile, so I won't have any money to fix the problem.
So my question is this. If I run on a bent valve(s), will it screw my motor up? I won't be redlining it. Just shifting at 4000rpm or so. Is it ok to be driving my car?
What can happen if I drive my car around with a bent valve(s)? LMK- thanks.

i would fix the problem asap. with u driving the car around with a bent valve u can break alot of stuff. Im guessing that since u bent a valve u also cracked ur valve guides. the more u drive ur car like that u might crack the valve and it will fall into the combustion chamber and say bye bye to ur motor. ur pistons will be damaged, cylinder walls, and ur head.
are u sure its a bent valve though??? cause if it were u probably wont be able to drive the car and u should be able to hear a really loud knocking sound.

My car runs fine. No loud knocking sound when I'm driving. They say my car will run like **** if I did have a bent valve and that i would be losing gobs of power. Well, its not like that, so I'm not sure.
Goin to get a Compression Test to see. My idle isn't smooth, so I was just wondering if it was a bent valve or not. I hope to God its not...
I've bent valves too. Try putting the corner of a sheet of paper flat aganist ur exhaust tip, if the exhaust sucks the paper in and out real hard, kinda making it flap, you have a problem. Also try pulling out each spark plug wire one at a time, if your idel does not go down the same amount on each one you might have a valve or compression problem. When I bent 4 valves from pushing it too hard at the track, I tried pulling out my spark plug wires one at a time and when I pulled the ones on my third and fourth cylinder the idel stayed the same. Big Prolem. $900 later I learned me lesson

Jun,
If you have a bent valve, sooner or later your motor will lose compression to the point where it will shake at idle. you will not want to drive it. not to mention, there will be a point where it wont even start. bent valves click... they dont knock in my exp, I have bent 10 exhaust valves this year. unfortunately, I know about this pretty much. if you hear a knock, you will have to replace more than valves...
A bent valve is still held by the clip, and bends so slightly and still loses compression. It will not fall into your motor.
leak it down so you know whats wrong for sure
if its a bent valve, worst case scenario is this:
leakdown determines bad valves in 1 or 2 cylinders...
you pull the head $0
you find a tech that will bust the head down for you
on the side $50 and spin the valves with a drill to see
whats bent, check the valve guides to make sure they
are healthy.
buy the exhaust valves you need, they are about $20 each.
then, get valve seals $80 for 16 intake and exhaust are diff.
if you are in there, may as well do them.
replace the stock head gasket $50, $130 for a mugen
a machine shop will charge you $250 to reinstall and check
everything and resurface the head.
you may want to get Skunk2 retainers, they have saved my ***
several times so far on mis shifts... trust me the honda retainer must go...
$160
your timing belt and everything should be fine... have a tech
buddy help you install the head... throw him $150 for the night
it will take to do it.
coolant and oil, filter $25
You could get out of this pretty cheap if you had to. I know money is tight
but if you had to get a loan to do it or write yourself one with a credit card,
I would. Again, a compression test involves too many engine parts at any
one given time so it is not reliable. Get her leaked down...
My $.02 hope you get things worked out.

and thats incorrect.
the valve(s) can be bent so little that it still lets air escape but the engine runs almost fine.
my buddys prelude had all 8 intake valves bent, but it still ran fine (fine enough to pull a 15.0)
but its still not a good idea to drive with a bent valve
if somthing happens say goodbye to the head and a piston.
i work for acura, and recently did one of these.... compression was appx
180 20 40 120 so that told me that only no.1 was good. its only going to be the exhaust valves bent. i pulled the head, orderd all new exhaust valves, lapped, and installed them, car ran fine. a good reliable way of telling whitch ones are bent is to sit the head on its intake side, and spray throttle body cleaner in the exhaust ports. if you see the cleaner leak in the combustion chamber then that valve is bent. trust me you dont want to pull all the valves, just the ones that are not sealing, as it is a bitch putting them back in. but that work might need to be done at the machine shop, as special tools are needed to remove, and reinstall the valves. i've done this service myself so i know about it well, if you need more info let me know. but to answer your origional question, no i would noy reccomend driving like it is
