i have a built ls vtec wit hthe following:
arias 9:1 Pistons
eagle Rods
acl bearings(all bearings)
gsr girdle on ls block
arp head studs
gsr head (stock)
i also have a b16 head(stock)
(dont know what head to use)
precision 880cc injectors
walbro fuel pump
shooting for mid 400whp


i want cams the have the meanass lopey sound like the toda vtec killers
but i know there not good for boosted engines but is that true even if its tuned for them??

and what should i set my rev limit at?

 

I run VTEC killers in my car and it did very well, we made good power with little boost. The only downside is I do not recommend trying to drive them on the street, I hate it when i catch stop lights!!! But dont buy a cam for the " sound " if your only shooting for 400whp I would run a type r cam or skunk2 pro2 cam.

 

some ITR cams will work perfect, if your set on some aftermarket cams, skunk2 pro1's make some nice midrange.

 

i just love the intimidating sound of the mean *** lope....
its sounds sick...
but i love vtec when it hits with boost it feels like a whole other monster...

i have a build similar to this going togeather. but more aftermarket parts and more precise decision making is going into this build. has anyone used a ctr intake and an itr exhaust??

 

Th 96-98 is different but the 99-01 itr is same as ctr cams. and the difference is very minimal

 

i run type-r springs/retainers with gsr cams rev limit is set at 8500 but i usually shift at 8k

made 400whp @ about 15psi on a 30r

 

Im currently running supertech springs/retainers with ctr cams reving to 9000. Really it all matters on the setup on how high you rev. You dont want to rev past where it stops makign power or where power levels off. if iots not producing then no reason to rev it

 

i got type r springs with supertec flat faced black nitrade coated std size valves

 

usually the rev limit is set a couple rpm's after the car stops making power. but you have stock components.. i have full typeR head rev limit set at 8700.

 

so what cams should i use, the gsr's or the itr's or a combo setup?

 

ITR cams are better then the gsr. IMO you should go with them. even a set of skunk2 tuner 1 cams. they are based of the ITR cams but with technology and testing add
