The adventure of passing emissions: idling issues after thermastat replacement
So in trying to sort out my emissions issue I replaced the thermostat in the car a few minute ago.
That all went fine and dandy, I got a bunch of coolant all over the floor and it's now soaking in kitty litter, but here's the issue now.
I have been driving it around all day and the idle was at a nice 900-1000RPM. However, now that I've swapped out the thermostat and drove it around for about 20 minute to warm it up, the car is idling at 1500RPM and when I blip the throttle it bogs for a second and then resumes the 1500RPM idle...
If my thinking is correct this means it's running rich, and if that's the case then the thermostat was not the issue in WHY I was running rich.
Does anyone have any ideas? I recorded a video that I just uploaded to youtube so you can take a look at that below.

I bolted it back on, but it's possible that it's not making good contact, I'll clean it and put it back on and try again.
I played with the idle stop and throttle cable a little and it idles a bit smoother now. I also ran some sea foam through it, seems to idle a bit better now. I'll give it a day or two and see how it goes.
Thanks for the help!

i dont feel like reading if you did this or not. but it sounds like you didnt bleed the coolant long enough.
agreed, you didn't bleed.
My method: Park car uphill, crack bleeder, either let idle for about 20 mins until thermostat cycles open and closed a few times -or- if you are short on time rev to 2K rpm for 5 mins till car reaches operating temp. Close valve, add coolant as necessary and you should be golden

I got this one from autozone (will have to post part number since they won't allow tiny url sites on here apparently....
Part number 15878
I will try bleeding it more thoroughly and see how it goes after that. The idle is getting really erratic now going steadily at almost a rhythmic pace from 1000 to 1500 and then back again.
