Default 15-20 min. idle thermo goes past middle

hey guys it's not effecting my car atm, but i want to make sure if any of you would know if this could potentially harm my car. okay here's the story

been dding and everything has been fine. coolant & thermostat changed recently.. i'm running a generic aluminum radiator..

so today i was looking for parking(for 15-20 mins..i know long time right?) and it was somewhat hot today if that has any effect, but i turned on my heater just to release some heat from the engine and the thermo shows the THERMO going past middle almost to 3/4 to "H". but when i drive it goes back to the point before middle of the thermo. is this normal? anyone else experiencing this?

*when it went past 1/2 almost to 3/4 immediately turned off my car (scared of overheating and ruining my headgasket) this has happened only once usually though when i idle for more than 15-20 mins it goes a little past the middle, that's about it, just today was a little bit hotter than usual.

note* drove home this evening..temperature was perfect set right before the middle.. no overheating at all. it only goes past middle a bit if i let it idle for 15-25mins.. anyone? i'm planning to upgrade my radiator this summer btw* if that has any effect since my current one the draig plug broke and leaks a little coolant..*coolant hoses were replaced as well, but their autozone(had no choice) probably going to get aftermarket from JHP or just oem ones.

My guess is that the radiator fan is not running when the engine gets hot. Check that. When you replaced the radiator, did you bleed the cooling system?

yeah we did, oh yeah me and my friends were just talking about that. i'm probably going to replace it with an aftermarket 8 or 10' slim fan since i'll be running the rmf rep headers from vtecc kid soon.. just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong, pretty sure its the fan. thanks
