To port or not to port, Please advise!!
Hello all. I'm in the process of building my b18c motor, most of the bottom end work is finished. I'm shooting for 450 wheel bhp. My specs:
cp 9.0:1 pistons 81.5
stock 87 stroke
Eagle Rods
Gt3076r .63 back I'm using a quick 4 mani.
I really can't decide if to port or not. I have been reading on Evans tuning and a lot of the guys there doing big numbers don't mention porting at all. I have a (p72) stock gsr head, please advise if I should port for 450 bhp?
Also anyone that got a P&P, was it worth it, i mean could you feel the difference or at least did the dyno say it gained significant horsepower? Thanks all.

you dont need to do any port work to hit your goals. but you will make more power sooner in the rpm range and at lower boost with the port work. i would spend the $$ on sleaveing a block

yeah i finally convinced my buddy to not port his head, its just not worth it unless your building an all out drag queen and trying to extract every last drop of power from the setup. like already stated save the money or sleeve the block
85mm bore and some thick sleeve's are your best freind.im only makin 366 on 18psi and a sleeved block but the turbo u are useing is much bigger than mine
you can make alot of power on stock port, but a ported head will always help. I would definetely get a sleeved block before a ported head. You can always get a ported head later on.
why would you go 85mm when buying a sleeved block...you have no room to play with if you happen to scare a wall.. 84mm or less.. always leaves you room to go bigger if needed.. just my .02cents
