Default 99 civic ex primary o2 sensor connector location?

I'm trying to figure out why the Primary sensor replacement is not nearly long enough. On many other civics, the primary o2 sensor's connector is very close to the sensor itself where as mine seems to be so far away ( back of the motor). To reach, i'd have to run the wire from the exhaust manifold, under the oil pan, and above the axle. yet the OE replacement bosch is only 12.4 inches in length. This is supposed to be a exact fit.

I'm trying to figure out why the bosch o2 sensor wiring is so short. Is it a error on bosch's fault or am I missing something?

it's a stock 99 civic ex with auto.

do you have an aftermarket header? my buddy has an ex stock manifold on his car, and the o2 sensor location is right above the 4-2 connection spot. yours should be there too, unless your header is aftermarket
