Default 99 civic EX - primary O2 SENSOR is missing
i have a 99 civic ex with a d16y7 engine.someone did a auto to standard swap and put a header on it but did'nt put a o2 sensor in the header.i got a sensor but i cant find the wire to plug it in.

Are you sure the primary O2 sensor is missing? The 99 Civic EX primary O2 sensor plugs into exhaust pipe A near the cat.

i will have to look.all the pictures i have seen the primary was in the manifold.i know there is one back by the shifter.they put a catback system on it to.

The location of the stock 99 Civic EX primary sensor is as shown in the picture. Why do you think you need an O2 sensor? Is a code thrown?

The secondary sensor inserts into the cat.

You can identify the connector for primary sensor by the color of its 4 wires:

Blk/Yel, Wht, Grn/Blk, Blk/Wht

yes it threw a code i think it read bank1 sensor 1

Try to locate the sensor connector in the area I mentioned.

found it.thanks.now i have to order a o2 with a female end.the one o got was a male.and to get the idle surge fixed.i amagine iac valve

Post the exact code. Or are you saying that the primary O2 sensor is actually missing?

Try cleaning the IACV, bleeding the cooling system, and checking for a vacuum or intake air leak. Then go from there.

cleaned iac still does it.where they swap the transmission do you have to do something to the iac wireing

Not on a Y7...unless they put a Y8 or other traditional D series style intake manifold on it at the same time.
