Default running different boost levels?

Maybe a bit of a noob question, but here goes...

I had sent an email to the guy that I will get to tune my setup, and was wondering about running different boost levels (eg. high boost/low boost).

He uses neptune (which version I'm not sure) and he stated that this could be done through the use of a solenoid.

Just wondering if anyone can shed some insight on the subject for me, or redirect me to where I can find some good reading on the subject?

I realize for different tuning programs there are probably different options present for running different maps, I just don't know how the process works.

you can use the pwm boost controller with Neptune.. its a solenoid type controller that works through the ecu for boost by gear etc.... i had it but i didnt like it. fluctuated to much.. i would suggest buying a boost controller from www.j-k-tuning.com. there js boost controllers.. you can have a simple high and low boost setting just by flicking a toggle switch that you can hook up. or you can also run it through the ecu..

I see what you mean as far as using the toggle switch, however, if I switch levels of boost by that method only, I suspect my a/f wouldn't be as it should be...

What do you mean exactly by "running it through the ecu"? Having a laptop with neptune running and switching bin (?) files?
