Default reliable boost controllers?

I have noticed alot of people loose motors to their boost controllers, I have noticed that the avcr blows quite a few too. I just wanted a few opinions on different boost controllers. becuase what I am noticing is they are kinda dangerous. is that a correct assumption?

Not really...

Most people get careless with boost controllers, they decide to turn it up a notch or two just for a run at the track or something and end up destroying their motors because they weren't built for the kind of boost that they were putting into it. Maybe the fuel was wrong, timing too advanced...basically, not tuned for the amount of boost that they were running.

Now, with the AVCR...
I'm guessing incorrect setup...I've heard they're a pain in the *** to set up correctly and take some time and knowledge to get working properly.

I keep reading stories about boost controllers that are supposedly "properly set up" and then they go spike to 20psi. thats what I am asking about. I am wondering which boostcontroller does that the least if at all.

Most claimed MBC failures can be traced to wastegate failures or vacuum line failures. A mechanical MBC is about as reliable as you can get without resorting to just the wastegate spring pressure.

With that said, I don't like the EBC's due to the inherient complexity of an electronic device. On a fwd car however, they are a necessary evil.

I run a Joe P MBC and it has never spiked in 3 years and 50,000 miles.

I went with the HKS EVC EZ II. It uses a stepping motor. I'll be getting the display for it making it a full function EVC plus it looks pretty dope. Yeah I heard of single or dual solenoids failing. I read it happened on a magazine project car and damaged the ring lands when it happened. It was in DRAG magazine a couple months ago.
