on the downpipe from the exhaust side of the turbo how far should a wideband o2 sensor be? or can it go any where? ??? whats a good location for one? any help thank you

 

it should say on the directions with your particular wideband... i have mine placed about 18 inches from the exit of the turbo...

 

Weld a bung below your axles... But dont weld it straight up welded a bung in so its 45* kind of sideways 1/4 from the top down.. I think that what aem sugest.. Also use a old bolt or old o2 sensor in the bung when you go to weld it on other wise you will get some of that weld/sparks on to the treads and that a pain all on its own..

 

Most companies actually suggest welding it straight up (top of pipe). Water condensation at the bottom can ruin the element in the sensor via heat shock, among other things. It would only be 45* if there is another sensor less than 12" upstream that's also welded in at the top of the pipe.

Most wideband controllers can easily control the sensor's heater to keep it hot enough, but very few things can cool down an overheating sensor. 800C is usually the hottest they should get, which is actually EGT's you get at idle! I like the spot near the axles as it's easy to get to, and also over 18" from the turbine. Never had a problem with that spot with the custom DP's I've made.
