ok so i did a mini me swap. i follow the many write up on here. this is a 00 hatch with the d16y7 with a d16y8 head. Now i got it running but really crappy. im using a p2p ecu. i was wondering if the cam gear on the y7 is different from the y8 cus im using a y8 one an im sure the timing is off. i was getting misfires den i retarded the dizzy all the way now im not getting a cel but it idles really low. any advice or comment is appereicated.

ps im using y7 intake mani for now.

 

check out the forums on d-series.org. its dedicated to d series motors and there is a ton of info on there for this swap

 

y7 an y8 use the same cam gear.
you may be off by a tooth if it runs that badly.
the y7 intake manifold sucks, get rid of it. also y7 injectors are 190cc instead of 240cc that your p2p ecu thinks it has, so you are probably running lean.

 

sounds like you are off a tooth on the timing, recheck that and let us know and are you using the y7 injectors as well?

 

no i am using y8 injectors. i am kinda stump i check the timing like 3 times. every time is like half a tooth or a tooth off...getting soo frustrated. thanks guys for the input...i still need help. with the dizzy all the way retarded i have no cel runs crappy n low idle.

 

yea the y7 manifold is a temp. got the y8 coming soon.

 

does anybody know id the dizzy is 180 out would it still start? but crappy?

 

You can't install the distributor 180 out. The groove is offset, so it only goes on 1 way.
