Default D16Y8 Injectors + Y7 ECU = Run Too Rich?

I've been reading threads regarding swapping a y8 Auto IM onto a y7 head. In my case, I'm throwing a Y7 head and block in, keeping y8 IM and EM. (bad motor). Today I came across a post, claiming that using Y8 injectors with a Y7 ECU will cause the car to run too rich. I have not heard of this potential issue before.

actual thread:

"If you use the y8 injectors with the y7 ECU, you will run rich though so you want to re-use your y7 rail and injectors...If re-using y7 injectors, install them in the y8 rail, or just move the y8 purge solenoid from the y8 rail to the y7 rail"

I'm a little confused by the last portion, do I have this right:

Option 1: transfer entire y7 fuel rail onto y8 IM, take purge solenoid off discarded y8 rail and install it on y7 rail.

Option 2: transfer the y7 injectors individually onto the y8 fuel rail, leaving purge solenoid alone, and call it good.

I know this seems like a no brainer, but I'm wondering why he would suggest two methods when the second one seems more straightforward.

Then of course there is the following, which seems to suggest keeping the y8 injectors would be no big deal:

"...you should just use the 240cc injectors from the y8. They will allow you to get better fueling now that you have better airflow. It has been said, "Your stock honda ECU will idle 720cc injectors just fine." So clearly you'll be fine with 240s. Also your y7 injectors <190cc> will only be good up to 123 hp, while the y8 injectors can handle fueling on a N/A car up to 156 hp."

Forgot YM and M:

96 EK Coupe, Auto y8 about to ingest a y7 longblock.

I'm not going to build this thing at all, just a daily driver. Read a few more related posts, thinking I perhaps should just thrown the y7 injectors on the y8 rail...?

truely its more of a hassle than its worth. i did it and you dont feel a difference. you are 5x better off getting a y8 or z6 tranny.

if you do, do the y8 IM swap keep your y7 injectors i found out from trial and error.

Default Re: (big-cat)

Thanks for the heads up, Big-Cat. Curious to know: how did your EK run initially with those 240cc injectors?

As for me, I'm going with this conversion because the y7 LB was the closest and cheapest option, and the car is for the wife, not me. (original y8 motor was slagged top and bottom) Tranny is the original y8 Auto.

I will take your advice and transfer over the y7 injectors.

well the d16y7 ecu(either p2k or p2e not sure) is use to running the 190cc's and i figured as well " well its getting better air flow why not more fuel". turns out the air flow is not enough. you will feel your carr actually slower with the 240cc's(i have done this from trial and error). throw the 190cc's on and if its manual you will feel a slight difference. but dont expect anything because its near to nothing.

hope everything goes well. MISTAKES THAT I MADE: dont splice your wiring harness and remember to remove ALL of the old IM gasket. good luck

i wish i would have done a tranny swap. i will do a y8 swap when my turbo wears out my stock clutch

p.s. the only thing you need to swap from the manifolds is Y7 injectors. leave everything else alone.
