and if you put everything from the y7 head on the y8 head it would pretty much be pointless to buy the y8 head.

Mini-me's are great. And you can use all your Y7 parts on the Y8. I am pretty sure that the dizzy is the same aswell. Just wire in VTEC and get a VTEC ECU and your fine, well you need the Y8 injectors also because the Y7 injectors are 180cc.

im not concerned of doing a mini me, since its my DD.. i just plan on getting a new head instead of rebuilding my old one

well once you get a Y8 head on there then you have already done basically all the work of a mini-me. All you would have to do is connect VTEC with a VTEC ECU. And with a Y8 head it would definitely make more than the stock power of a Y7.

ahh shiet.. ok nvm, i'll just get my old head rebuilt since all you guys are persuading me to do a mini-me, when its not even gonna do much since i don't go on the highway between work/college. lol, but thanks guys anyway.. i'll probably mini-me sooner or later since its that easy

just get the y8 head. it's cheaper and you don't HAVE to hook up vtec. you can rock the y8 head w/o changing anything. it would perform the exact same way as if you still had your y7 head. then some day if you decide that you want to use vtec the hard part is already done. just be sure to remove the oil jet in your y7 block

Re: Switching heads from y7 to y8 [not mini-me]
The highway has nothing to do with a mini-me. The thing is if you really dont want a mini-me dont put the Y8 head on there. because when you put the head on there it raises the compression to like 10.3 and i dont think it would be wise to run Regular with 10.3 compression. Even if you did run regular your not going to get as good gas mileage because its going to take more fuel to run the higher compression setup, but basically without any of the gain of the mini-me. You will make like 4-5 more HP instead of 25, so its not worth it to change your fuel situation for that.

Ok, I guess i'll just send my Y7 in for servicing than.. since Jimster480 made a good point, i'll just save up money later for the mini-me swap.. but +25hp sounds good to me

well all you need is Y8 Head, Manifold, P2P ECU, Y8 Injectors (or any other 240cc Injectors), & a couple of wires to run VTEC.
