not much power, the cam gear is the option to play with your timming. exospeed and bisi are master sohc tuners hit them up to sse if it will help ur set up

Adjustable cam gear= not for power. Its for fine tuning timing

Cam= more power over stock depednding on size of lobes

It can increase your jdm points by 10 stars

Of course as in any mod you have to follow through with something else
i.e. Intake alone is ok header alone is ok exhaust alone is ok... But you pair them up to compliment each other and they net more power.

You cant just throw in a cam and call it a day. (not if you wanna make the most out of it)
You pair it up with high comp pistons, performance im, and a good tune and its a different animal.

There is no magical mod like that, other than fi and even then you gotta finish it off with a tune

I always thought it was more for looks than anything lol.
Well while were on the topic of camshafts I have another question.
If you upgrade the camshaft and pistons+rods+rings you can get a higher redline right or is more needed?

I don't mean to sound like a newbie but I am new to this since I have no experience upgrading engine internals.

To use upgraded cam you gotta upgrade the valvetrain regardless and that too will help apinning your engne at a higher redline

You can increase your redline with a "chip" any time but to do it safely i would do all you mentioned plus balance the crankshaft and a block guard

yeah... there is a lot more work involved than just throwing in a cam and gears and calling it a day.. you mess with one system you better mess with the others

OK alot of misinformation in this thread.

Camgear lets you adjust the cam positioning to find the most efficient area for power. Each setup will have its own preference on how a cam is tuned and for the powerband.

An aftermarket cam's goal is to bring in more air into the engine. More air means more power. The cam design allows that to happen by lift and duration combinations. Thats why you have different stages. And those different stages work in combination with certain compressions, engine displacement, etc. You just cant mix and match big cams on stock motors, etc.

All upgrades have to work together in some way. More air you have coming in the engine, whether its using a bigger cam, different intake manifold, etc., the more fuel it'll want to work efficiently.

Exospeed and Bisimoto both offer camshafts for different engines. We arent a tuner though, we just developed our camshafts just like other manufacturers. Bisimoto does offer dyno tuning at their facility.

Back to the original question: If a cam gear makes more power. A Cam gear is a tuning tool. The part itself doesnt give more power. The Cam gear lets you adjust a camshaft to gain more power by fine tuning. At the same time, if not done properly, you can lose power.

That is probably the best explanation for what you can "gain" with an adjustable cam gear
