cam gear necessary?
hey all, i will be running between 8-10 psi on my d16 and i was wondering, since i will be getting it tuned(safc), Should i get a cam gear so that the tuner can advance or decrease my timing? can this be done with out an aftermarket cam gear? i know all the after market ones have dashes on em for each degree so this is what i'm wondering.
thanks all

To elaborate on the what the others said, it comes in handy if you have a significant amount of material removed from your head/block to compensate for the changes in height.
Other than that, on a SOHC motor, it basically just moves the power band around. You want to adjust anything more than that, you'll need a new cam.
So, in short, if your motor is stock, save your money for something else (i.e. better management solution
)

no you don't need it...espescially with a stock cam.

he is talking about cam timing not ignition timing...
