Default K20 questions about turboing!

To start off im not a noob to the boost world. i have built a couple turbo EGs. Right now i have the option of buy a RSX Type-S off my buddy. It has 75k on it with a blown motor. He is going to have it rebuilt and sell it to me when its done. I have the option to have to the motor to be built right now but not sure. Here are my questions....

How much boost/hp can a stock k20 handle? (fresh rebuilt with ARP headstuds)

Is a GT30r too big for a stock motor?

Does the Type S 6spd have an LSD?

What clutch would you guys recomend?

Thanks and any input would be awsome.

People on CRSX are hitting up to 500whp stock it's freaking ridiculous!

GT30R should be a good turbo for the high rpm setup

stock Type-S does not have LSD

I'd recommend the Competition Stage 4 six puck clutch

wow 500whp on a stocker is fricken ridiculous!

im probly on shooting for around 350whp, so im guessing the stock motor is plenty capable of this?

I know on my b-series motors the gt30's where def high rpm spoolers, but im wondering with the 2.0 when will it start spooling, and when will it hit full?

Also what is the HP rating for that clutch and can i have a link please?

Another thing, i LOVE the style of the sidemount turbo manifolds, anyone have any brands or link to some? Anyone have experience with the OBX Sidewinder? Is this manifold overkill for a 350whp DD?

Thanks again!

I say do the rebuild well and it should be well capable of the 500, but yeah the 350 shouldn't be a problem. I don't have a link to the clutch numbers but the torque that the stock clutch can handle would probably be around 6 pounds of boost or so. But the competition clutch that was previously posted about is capable of another 250% of torque, plenty for what you are shooting for. I got mine at corsportusa.com. Got my revhard kit from them as well.

very well capable of 350 all day every day. use arps rod bolts for reassurance that u can use the block later. as far as sidewinder setups, yer not all that far away from a shop in ohio that builds daily driven turbo rsx's ( as in you drop it off you drive it home) they use afi manis, might wana check those out.

Didn't know clutches were rated by lbs of boost rather than torque ratings.

Google it, dang man don't be totally helpless! I don't mind helping but hate when people have to be spoon-fed everything.

Dont waste money on a GT30, ball bearing turbos are getting out dated fast and they are not cheap to rebuild. you could get a borg warner turbo for cheaper and it will spool better and support my power.

Is a GT30r too big for a stock motor?

Does the Type S 6spd have an LSD?

What clutch would you guys recomend?

Thanks and any input would be awsome.
1. Like said above, 500-600 WHP on stock blocks with a good tune is possible. Its been done more than once on clubrsx.com

2. GT30R isn't too big. What are your HP goals? I ran a T3/T4 .60 trim at 6 psi and made 330whp and 280tq. Guys are usually hitting around 400 whp with the GT30 and the peakboost/full race kit.

3. No RSX Type S came with a LSD. Some guys use a OEM JDM DC5 ITR as you can pick up a used one for cheap. Lots of good aftermarket ones too.

4. I would recomend a compitition clutch stage 4. I ran this clutch on my peakboost setup. The clutch has a stock pedal feel but grabs slightly harder thans stock. Its a really good DD and track clutch. Holds up to 400tq which is more than any will need. And its priced well.
