Anyone use a moroso spiral flow muffler/res?
Anyone have personal experience with one of these? I just welded in the 3" moroso spiral flow muffler. Exhaust is as follows: 2.5" dp, 3" exhaust with 3" hi flow cat, 3" moroso spiral flow, then 3" Magnaflo straight through muffler.
At initial start up the car is louder than before. I drove it around the block and the car is MUCH LOUDER than it was before up to about 4K rpm. After about 4K rpm the car is quieter. I figure ok it must be an exhaust leak. I replaced a shoddy looking gasket, checked the others, which looked perfect and drove again. SAME RESULT. I put the car up on 4 jack stands and went under neath the car while it was running and felt, looked, listened for leaks and can NOT find an exhaust leak anywhere. Not even a pinhole one.
WTF gives? is this thing known for amplifying slower traveling exhaust gas? All i was looking to do was quiete down some of the top end, not make the cruising around town unbearably loud! lol

i use the twister mufflers which is essentially the same design.
the spiral flow is very thin but they do a great job quieting the car down compared to conventional straight thru mufflers

probably cuz its thin .. allows more vibrations to be heard.
i like the twister mufflers because they're 16 or 14GA aluminized steel.

could be i suppose? the rest of my 3" exhaust is like sch40 thickness. overkill but was super easy to weld up haha.

haha yeah it has some weight. but it's not terrible. i can carry the entire exhaust in just one hand, no biggie. i got it on the cheap

lol yeah it's not really sch40. i've got a bunch of sch40 pipping i'm using for my new manifold. the exhaust is about 3/32" thick, whatever gauge that, 13?

I hate bashing but i am honestly very unhappy with Moroso at this point. I spoke with technical support and basically they said there's no way possible for it to make a car louder and they offered no help or anything. I felt like they don't care about their customers or their products. So now i have a peice of junk 50 dollar part that i now need to cut off my car just so i can weld back in the original peice of pipe.
awesome. giant waste of money and time.

get rid of that spiral flow bs crap.....i never heard any good from those things.
pick up a traditional resonator and it WILL make your exhaust quieter.

I had one when they first came out and although it quiets down the exhaust decently, it actually made the car sound more tinny... Eventually, after 6 months of driving, a few angry backfires killed the spiral plates inside and it made a dreaded vibration noise. I yanked it out and welded in a universal Vibrant resonator and couldn't be happier.
was that just one of their standard resonators or their ultra quiet ones? I'll actually be ordering one of their 3" stealth flat black mufflers next week. I'll see how that is and then if i need more maybe i'll pick up their res aswell. how long have you been running that resonator?

my vibrant standard resonator is 4 or 5 years old now....i just added the ultra-quiet version inplace of the cat-converter for added noise suppression. works well. vibrant products are very good.
