Default Spring Compressor Alternative?

I need to disassemble the stock struts on my Integra but I don't have a spring compressor. Does anyone know another method of doing this without one? I have a couple ways in mind but they seem kind of dangerous.

i don't use any tools
just set it on the floor and let the spring fly.
worked for me but is kinda dangerous if you are a 1st timer.
best thing is to rent the tool at your local auto part and do it the right way

If you're not experienced, I do not reccomend just letting if "fly out". I've seen those springs shoot out and nearly lodge them selves into walls.

Rent the spring compressor from Auto Zone for $40, when you bring it back, you get your money back.

put ur foot on the spring and impact the nut off. the strut will go like 3 feet(if u do it in the grass). i do it every time to get the strut assembly apart and i even have a spring compressor. not that dangerous just be careful.

Wrap the assembly in a towell and/or shoot it into a garbage can that's laid on it's side. It makes it less likely for stuff to go flying and pieces to go missing. Be prepared to get startled the first couple times you do it lol.

How do you reassemble easily without a spring compressor?

Are you installing lowering springs or re-installing stock ones? Most lowering springs are short enough where you won't have to compress them to get everything back together. Stock springs I'm sure you'll have to use a compressor.

I kept it safe and rented a spring compressor for free from autozone. I was putting on some GC coilovers btw.

or just tie a rope to the middle of the sping and the bottom of the shock, it wont shoot out then if u r not willing to rent to tool. b careful tho, even with the tools those things are loaded pretty good and can fly out fast
