Default Spring compressor

So I went to autozone and this is the only spring compressor they got

So I rented it out for 50$ thing is I never see this damn thing before and looking at it now that Ihave it on a spring for test purposes that this thing is useless for helping me compressing the spring still on a shock/strut, Am I right?

yeah I don't know what the hell you'd use that for.

the one you need has two seperate compressors that go on the outside of the spring. one end hooks to the top of the spring, the other to the bottom, with a threaded rod between the two ends.

Maybe I can use this to compress the shock itself and remove the top bolt and slowly loosen this? Damn it, theres no other places here with a different kind of spring compressor.

that compressor is for non strut-in-spring suspension systems. this was the first compressor i used for my suspension and almost broke my hand, so i would advice not to use this one.
if they have that compressor, i dont know why they dont have the ones for our cars

but like 98 said... if you have an air gun... and alotta *****.... you dont need no compressor

naw autozone has them I've rented it from them numerous times, its just that they call the old school tool (shown above) a "spring compressor" and the one we use a "mc phearson strut compressor" or something like that... and they are a pain in the *** to use

good luck

Me and my friends installed my front springs today without a compressor. Haha, We just left the top mount attached then removed the lower fork the loose up the hat and put a box with a towel in it under it and then let it shoot out in there with min damage.. we're doing the rear the same way tommorrow morning!!!
