I know some ppl have done it but if ur going into the engine I would just replace the rods as well with some forged ones. I haven't had any luck on stock rods, just my 2 cents.
I would definately recomend doing the oil pump now... if it goes all your work was a waste.
As fars pistons only. I'd only do that if you're not planning on making over 200 or so hp.
You should look into the FJT/Vitara combination but I think they're currently out of stock.
If you choose not to do that then the best way to press out the piston pins is to use a press... if you don't have one you can jerry rig some sockets and a vice to do the same thing but it's definately riskier as far as damaging the rods if you plan on re-using them.

take your rods and new pistons to a machine shop and get them done right, those babies are in their tight and I believe your supposed to put some heat to them. IMHO I would just replace them, rods are one of the cheapest parts on a rebuild anymore. Do the oil pump you wont regret it, even if it is just for peace of mind
If ur planing on staying all motor than u could reuse ur stock rods but u will b pushing the limit. I agree with srmofo, a machine shop would b ur best bet and most of them only charge $30-40 anyway but like I said b4 tho some forged rods r the way 2 go and u can put it all together urself too.
