what are your longterm goals with the car?

if it's nothing too crazy, i'd turbo your d16. Have it tuned to about 210whp and you will have a reliable and quick car.

the advantages of going with a b18b is not only the jump in horsepower but in torque. I'm thinking either your friend can't drive or his cam gear is for some reason set some other place than stock and his car is actually losing power, because he should have beat you.

ok well if you want all motor then the thread ends here no more opinions needed.

go b-series.

an all motor d-series won't get you anything, except maybe laughed at.

i had a d15b vtec which is pretty much the same as d16z6. I swapped in a b18b.. the torque does wonders for daily driving, hills are not a problem anymore, where as id have to downshift to 4th or even 3rd to climb hills i can climb in 5th on my ls motor. ls ftw
