Default Having problem getting car into 1-2 shift gate(G-force shifter)

I installed the shifter in my 91 crx with hydro gsr trans, put the trans in neutral, locked the shifter in the middle like the directions said to do, measured the linkage to length, cut it, welded it, then installed the linkage. The problem im having is when i try to pull the shifter over to put it in the 1-2 gate the shifter wont move far enough over so i can get the car in 1st gear. I pulled the linkage down again thinking that maybe something was wrong with the shifter it self, but went i pulled it down the shifter moves to that position with no problem, so i know nothing is wrong with the shifter. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and if so what was done to correct the issue or if someone has some insight on what the problem could be...

You sure the trans is ok? Are you sure the transmission was in neutral? I have this shifter, and have no problems with it, but I will be taking it back apart to get more throw out of it..

I had this trans in my other crx which was running and driving but found a cleaner shell so decided to swap everything over to the new car and added a couple of new parts in the process. Before i put it in my old car i had a quaife and gearspeed carbon synchos installed and the trans has maybe 50 miles total on it since those parts were installed and when i had it in that car i was having a problem shifting at high rpm so it could be a trans problem, but it shifted fine while sitting still or under normal driving, with a hasport linkage and mounts in it, now i have avid solid mounts and the gforce and cant get it to shift into the 1-2 gate while sitting still, i havent tried to shift it with the engine started yet because im waiting for my tilton clutch master to come in so the clutch isnt really usable at the moment... Yes the trans was in neutral and the shifter was centered and locked in place with the jam bolts. I dont think there is anything wrong with the shifter at all, and im sure i followed the directions step by step. Im just really unsure right now about what to check next or what else to try????

For the hell of it, disconnect the shift rod from the transmission and manually move the shift rod to all of the positions..

As for my other comment, the G-Force shifters in stock form need more front and back travel.. If you put a cut open outer case half on the transmission, put it in the car, and watch how far the shift forks move, you will see this first hand.. The G-Force shifters weren't originally designed for Honda transmissions.. The shifters that are currently being sold by T1 Race Develepment are modified before they ship to his customers..

i had a very similar issue with my car. everything worked fine. pulled the motor/tans out all as 1 unit, sat it to the side. reinstalled everything, and the shifter did not want to go to the 1/2 spot. was confused as hell, everything worked perfect when i took it out.

took the trans out, and appart. everything looked fine. took the change holder out of another good transmission, installed that...worked fine after that. doesnt make any sense, but it worked.

I was trying to avoid taking the trans back out of the car and pulling it apart, but if it has to be done then I will.. Just wanted to see if anyone else has any other suggestions first before i took it all apart again..

the shifter does have minimal movement from 3/4 1/2... pull the shift linkage off, and check the gear selector manually... when u installed it, the 3 bolts to the box itself should have been centered... if they r to one side, this could be causing it not to move far enough to engage the 1/2 gate...

I checked to see if the 3 bolts were to one side more than the other and they are slightly off to one side. So this my be what is causing my problem. Now the problem I have is that i already welded the linkage all up so is there a way i can fix it or should i buy a new one?

as long as u dont have to turn the linkage to put the bolts in, it being slightly to one side shouldnt affect it... did u try shifting it at the trans with the linkage off..?
