D16Y8 valve cover stud problem
so upon putting the valve cover back on from doing some work, i retorqued one of the studs and during doing it the hole it gois into inside the cover cracked into two peices and one peice broke free and is inside the valve cover somewhere.
will this cause a problem?
how can i fix the broken stud slot ?

The piece that broke off that you have been unable to find probably won't cause a problem. It most likely go into the oil pan unless it finds a resting place somewhere on the way.
You will need to get easy outs to back out the broken stud from the head. Good luck with that though because the stud diameter doesn't make it "easy". My 92 Civic had three broken valve cover studs and one I could not remove so the cover is loose in one of the six locations - oh well.

nah the stud isnt broken, its fine. u can take it out by hand, its just the peiceit screws into cracked off.
so i just let the nut sit there lol.
so is there anyway to fix the peice it screws into ?

a pic would help alot here sound like you completely broke the bolt out of its holding spot and try a little harder to find them metal pieces even if theres a slim chance of hurting anything do you really in anyway want random metal floating around your head
it is very common on the d16z6 and y8 heads that were the valve cover screws go crack or break. If it breaks you will have to re-solder it but it will probably happen again on the future , or you can buy "studs" and place them, and adjust the valve cover with nuts (something like the rest of D and B-H series valve covers, but maybe not that pretty)
I feel like that post ^ is a mess, Sorry my english sucks...

inside the valve cover, each stud has its own holding pod it screws into so the rubber seal/washer can become tight around the outter valve cover. the inside of the head where the screw threads in broke off.
the bolt is fine. the valve cover is fine.
its inside that broke

deff snap a pic to clear thigns up but it sound like you broke the the bolt out of the head in which case umm good luck never heard of that one its kinda hard to screw up a valve cover change
who the hell said i screwed up the valve cover?
i did a timing belt change and upon putting the valve cover back on i put the bolts all in, But the last one i torqued, broke the holding pod inside.
why is it so hard for ppl to realise the valve cover isnt broken.
the bolt isnt broken.

Anyway...Ah I see now what you are saying. You're saying you broke where the bolt screws into the head? If thats the case, you can get a tap-and-dye set and re tap the hole, unless what you're saying is you actually broke the head in which case I don't know what you can do. Like others suggested, try to snap a picture and put it up here so we can be sure of what you're saying.
okay i cant really be more clear.
if u have ever taken off a valve cover before ud know what im talkin about.
lets eliminate the valve cover for a second. pretend it isnt on the head or even in the same room.
preetend the same thing for the bolts/ cause their perfectly fine.
now think for a second and say to ursef, hmm now where do the bolts screw in when their inserted in the valve cover. picture it in ur head for a minute, then realise OH SNAP the bolts go in a plastic nut on the head which isnt welded or on anything.
that peice is in two peices and one peice of it is missing, so its like when u go to put the bolt in there its like taking a grinder to a bolt nut cutting it in half and trying to put the bolt in that nut. theres only half a side a nut.
