Default Buying my 1st S2k

Sup guys I'm soon to be a new s2k owner in a week or so.
What are common problems with these vehicles and what are main things i should be looking for when buying a used Ap1? I'm also interested buying one that already has Ap2 front end conversion.

I'm not really familiar with s2000's, advice would help.

Thanks!

check out the FAQ at the top of the forum.

in it, you'll find a thread that compares every year s2000 and tells you recalls, problems, etc.

Yikes I did not even see that! Thanks.

Im just really scared on buying one since i been hearing from people that S2000 are always breaking down, parts are hard to find etc..

I just dont want to spend 15k and drive it only for a few months and having to reapir everything.

Parts are pretty expensive. However...the car really doesn't break.

The diff breaks if you abuse it. That's really the only thing I can think of....

Whoever told you that sucks.

You guys are really are making me feel allot better and have more confidence on buying one!.
Well this guy who i recently bought a car from for my girlfriend said that he had owned 2 S2k and his boys also had same problems also, saying that you have to change the valve springs and retainers every 100,000 miles and it would always bog out on him, i was thinking to myself it doesn't sound right, maybe the way he was driving his car.

Hope to join the community soon!

Thanks Guys!

s2k's are actually one of the most reliable sports car in its price range. for 10k you cant get a more reliable and fun 2 seater other than a miata.

Buy the S2000. There's no guarantee it won't break on you (Which in time every car will). But for 10k-15k, it's a hell of fun to drive. ESP a for a RWD honda (:.

Well I do!!! haha. Sometimes people dont have the chance to find what they are looking for, so thats why people post and ask for advice. sorry if i have questions that i wanted to share.

So if you want to bark about people not searching I think its a waste of time.

by the way
im going to look at an AP1 this tuesday but its too good to be true
66xxxK miles
with ap2 front and rear conversion
hes asking for $11,500

It may sound like it is too good to be true, but the truth is these things have lost alot of value within a very short period of time.

the rear differentials don't hold up well to launching, not saying they break constantly but it's the weak link.

however, the car isn't designed to be a hardcore drag racer, even though it can hold it's own quite well, so he rear diff issue really isn't too bad.

I personally perfer the AP1 front end, both look sexy as hell and you will have people stare at you no matter if you drive an AP1 or AP2.
