thinking of getting an s2000
i'm in the market looking for another car. i was thinking about either a toyota tundra or an s2000. the only thing is i can't really drive the s2k in the winter but i am in love with her and willing to make sacrifices. i put a about 10k in parts into my teg alone and willing to sale her for the s2k if it came down to it.
i found a 02 model with 89k for $11k. i haven't really look much into it but is this too much? the mileage doesn't really matter because i plan on a rebuilt with turbo set up, it's the body. also what are things to look for when buying an s2k and problems i might encounter?

A lot of people look into the Toyota Tundra and S2000. They are very similar when it comes to weight and handling. I think you would be better off with the Tundra because S2000s are junk.

ahhh the famous honda-tech sarcasm at work
honestly if you can live with the S2000 being almost completely impractical then go for the S. if you ever need to move anything besides a backpack or a small trip to the grocery store the S will annoy the crap out of you. my CRX feels like an SUV compared to my S2000, but I didn't get the S2000 for practical reasons so I don't care
I found my S2000 on eBay, between eBay and autotrader you should be able to find something nice. I personally like AP2's better and would look for an 04-05 before they went to drive by wire. then you've got the 2.2L motor, wider tires, and the glass rear window. not that an AP1 is bad, but they changed lots of little things on the AP2's. I also so lots of AP1's with AP2 glass window tops, might be something to look for.

i kinda like the ap1 look better but at the same time like some of the features of the ap2 like bigger rims and tires along with the led tail lights and new front headlights.
I do like the front and rear AP2 lights better, otherwise the only real changes are the bumpers which really didn't change all that much. inside there's a couple little changes but again nothing major. on the AP1's you get to rev to 9000 rpm which is fun
Hi, Im in the same boat as you are kinda....... My buddy is selling me his 2001 JDM S2k for 4k. The car needs some minor parts to get it in tip top shape but currently is driveable. Im hoping to DD it but mainly want to dedicate it to Time Attack. Its a bit different for me as i am changing over from an Evo8. So far ive been doing some reading and trying to figure out what really stands out about the JDM s2k.......

The decision is between the S2000 and a tundra?!!
I was wondering what to wear today. I could either wear my gorilla suit or my tuxedo. I know the tuxedo is impractical...but the gorilla suit gets fake hair in my nose and mouth so I have to wear a doctor's mask. What kind of seafood should I get also....
You obviously don't need a Tundra since your other choice would be a totally impractical car. I'm going to guess that the only thing you'll actually use the Tundra for is to try to make your 2'' ***** look like a 12'' *****?
Do you haul stuff? Do you tow stuff? Are you a construction worker? Do you offroad often? If not....why the hell would you buy a truck?

Kyle You be everywhere mang, but you said the s is junk?, i begg to differ on this one Kyleon, i think the s is pretty prime for the Honda's, the tundra will be all bulky, and to the OP why cant you drive a S in the winter? if the snow is a prob then imagine what the tundra will be like. yes the tundra has more clearance off the ground, but last time i checked the S and Tundra both have four wheels that have to drive through the snow, and we all know in order for you to go forward your tires have to move(not being sarcastic, just pratical), but get the S if you dont have much to haul, ever consider a used Sti as an option. but Kyle only a couple more months till i get the S=Inline pro, or RSX-S=Peak boost(devil smile).

You really think that driving a tundra in the winter is the same as driving the S2000 in the winter? Maybe in Alabama where there's not much actual winter weather. I live in Chicago..and even with the type of winters we have, the S2000 would be a handful. Not sure where the OP lives. If he lives anywhere north of Illinois where they get REAL snowfall...the S2000 would be a bad winter choice.
Not that it's an undriveable car in the winter. Although I don't drive mine in the winter. I'm draped in the decadent luxury of having 2 cars lol.
Going forward will be 100X easier with a Tundra. Stopping will be 100X easier with a tundra. Turning will be 100X easier with a tundra. (In the snow).
I'd still never drive a truck, though. My neck is just not that red.
