Default Advice on Buying. Help ME!

hey guys...here's the deal. i go back to school this sunday and wanted to get a stook before that.

well i found an MY00 for 17K. There is only 28,xxx miles on her so she hasn't been driven much.

My issue lies with the 1st owner. He apparently didn't go in for one TSB out of 15 or so...we're talking buzzing clutches, tranny work, diff work, spark plugs, oil jet bolts...

The 2nd owner, who i'm dealing with, bought the car in July with 26k on her...Should I be worried he only kept the car for 6 months and put 3k miles on it. Seems kinda sketchy.

As for the TSB's, he said the car didn't experience any issues with these problems...granted he might be telling the truth but who knows what could come up before 50k on the clock???? I'm out of warranty obviously.

Also, he has it garaged, plateless, and uninsured. If I wanna test drive it, which he is reluctant to let me do , will my insurance cover me in another car? I can see him not wanting it totalled before he sells it....

Sorry for all the questions but I appreciate ANY help I can get. Thanks

Drive it first. You can't tell what's wrong with it without a test drive. And call up your insurance company and ask them if they will cover you.

DO NOT buy it without a test drive. Ask him to get it inspected to help uncover any problems. This all seems very sketchy to me. I would advise against buying it quickly just to have it by the time you go back to school. It could really be a headache later on. Find a similar priced car from a local dealer or less sketchy seller.

I have state farm for insurence and they will not cover any vehicle unless it is in your name, they expect that the present owner of the car has insurence on it.

I wouldn't buy the car without test driving it.

On a positive note, I don't belive my MY00 ever had any of the TSB's performed, I bought it form the original owner. 58k and going strong
