Well, I got pre-approved for a loan to purchase an 00 S2000. I've been wanting to own one of these cars for a while, and I might finally be making a purchase. I haven't seen or driven the car yet hence the reason for my post but I'd like to have a heads up of things to look out for before buying the car.
This is the description of the car
-Black
-MY 2000 with "02 alterations" (ie glass rear window) as my friend told me (it's his brother's car)
-Clean title
-Red interior
-6 disc CD changer
-Clifford alarm
-extended warranty (almost up, but I will renew)
Obvious things to look for would be the body condition, tires, holes in the top, seats, etc. However, I know some cars have their quirks that maybe result of the car itself or just age/wear & tear. Just wondering if there are any things that I should look out for when inspecting and driving the car before deciding whether or not to purchase it.
Thanks in Advance
Marc

If it's a 2000 model, check if the VIN falls under any TSB's, and confirm that the maintenance has been done on those.

I'd pay honda for a pre-buy inspection. Its about $200 but they check everything. They are very ****, will tell you even the smallest things like if the spare tire jack was not tight (shows prior use), any repainting, etc...

the owner has an extended warranty and he said he was going to have all that stuff checked out. I'll see if i can get him to pay to get the inspection done. if he doesn't i'll look into that. thanks for the heads up on that guys. anything else? i know a lot of cars have first model year quirks.

how many miles? check if the proper maintenance has been done to it. and ask him how much it cost him to convert to the 02' glass rear. im thinkin about doing the same for my AP.

damn.. i guess you better check the maintenance logs (if any), oil, filters, tire pressure, flux capacitor, etc.
my advice - take it to honda and have them take a deep look into it.. that's your best route

overrev = some idiot/noob mis-shifting at redline, just like one of new posts.
if you try to rev over redline, ur rev-limiter will kick in
but if you misshift, revlimiter has no control over that.
and if you are too slow, u could seriously fuckup the engine
