Icon3 Never ending hesitation problem in 96 CX

Hey guys, Iv searched and done everything other people have done, and nothing has worked. Car hesitates all the time. It will lose all power and then just kick back in and jerk. This is my GFs car and Im at a loss now...

Its a stock Y7 and I have replaced:
Plugs
Plug wires
Fuel filter
Air filter

Cleaned:
Throttle Body
IACV
Injectors (cleaned screens)

Throttle cable is good, fuel pump primes fine.

ANY IDEAS?

check your timing like stated.

check for good exhaust pressure out of your muffler when car is hesitating.

any weird idles?

any check engine lights?

does the car sound like a lawnmower when hesitating? (like putt putt putt)

or is it a true lack of power where the engine is runs smooth but feels like a geo metro performance wise

Definitely inspect the contact points inside the cap and on the rotor. Replace or clean as necessary.

Pay attention to waaBAAH. He offers good advice.

1. Alright, I checked the Cap and rotor and they look clean but the rotor has a little wear on it, to be honest I have no idea what too much wear looks like.

2. Ill set/check timing tonight

3. No CEL on & no strange idle, it only hesitates when pulling

4. When it hesitates, yes it feels like a Geo Metro but no strange sounds. It is exactly as if I took my foot off the gas for 2 seconds and then stomped back on it. And the car jerks as the power comes back.

Sand the contact point to clean shiny metal with fine sand paper. Do the same for the contact points inside the distributor as they tend to corrode.

is this WOT (wide open throttle) or is this half throttle?

does the car pick up faster at half throttle? or less gas pedal action?

it doesnt happen at wot, happens most of the time when in 3rd or 4th and light pressure on the gas or when going up a hill. not sure what you mean in the second part of your post.

this is my gfs 96 cx hatch, not my b18c eg. she has the stock exhaust, the car is 100% stock.

you can try pulling codes eventhough yoru check engine light isnt on. a code might be "pending" but still within the requirements.

the second part of "does the car pick up faster at half throttle" basically was me thinking your car was slow at full throttle. sometimes the MAP or TPS sensor will give wrogn readings which floods the car with gas resulting in a bogging effect. then when you let off the gas to where your 80 percent on the gas (instead of 100) you will get the correct mixture resulting in more power.

the next step would be to look at some readings of some of your sensors when this condition happens. scanner would be best option but might not be easilly accesible for you.

you kind of need to see the o2 readings to see whats going on... is your motor running lean? rich? the o2 sensors will help you diagnois this.

can you get a scanner?

I had a very similar problem with my LS swap coupe. I checked many of the same things that you have with no avail. It turned out my Map sensor was bugging out, replaced it and the car ran like new.
