ANOTHER ANNOYING OVERHEATING CAR!
I NEED HELP ASP, PLEASE! I HAVE A 97 HONDA CIVIC EX YESTERDAY THE CAR STARTED OVERHEATING, SO I REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT MY SELF, THINGKING THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM. BUT AFTER DIVING IT AGAIN TODAY IT OVERHEATED AGAIN, SO I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP AND THEY REPLACE WATER PUMP AND TIMING BELT. SO AFTER EVERITHING REPLACED I TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE AND IT STILL OVERHEATS. WHAT COULD IT BE? I CHECK THE FAN TO SEE IF IT WAS WORKING, ITS ROTATTING WHEN IT GETS TO REGULAR TEMPERATURE, I ALSO REPLACE THE RADIATOR WITH A USED ONE, AND IT KEEPS OVERHEATING. I DONT HAVE ANY MORE IDEAS!
make sure you bleed all the air out the cooling system.
try another thermostat cuz some come defective from the manufacture.
if nothing works, blown head gasket

bleeding all the air out might be the problem but have you been leaking any coolant prior to this problem? if you have that might be the case...
also is there any smoke coming from the tailpipe? it should have a sweet smell to it, usually a white cloud of smoke... if you say yes to this then it is a blown headgasket
you should have had the mechanic who worked on your car checked it out before you got your water pump/timing belt put in...
an easy way to check to see if it really is the thermostat is... warm the car up for 5 to 10 mins (preferably 10 mins to make sure) now at this time the water temp should either raise really high or stay about mid level, what you do is check the coolant line that is farthest down if its warm then the thermostat is working, if its cold then you have a thermostat problem.
