HX Auto transmission ?s
My gf's sister has a 2000 hx that we are "thinking" the tranny is trying to take a ****. She says it jerks and is stuck in gear and wont go over 40mph. The car is 800 miles away but going to be towed back home. Figuring a shop would charge to much their father wants me to do it. I've never changed a transmission before but done a few things here and there on my cars, i have a Haynes manual and i fallow directions to a T. Any tips or things to look for to pinpoint that yeah the tranny is junk. Also what other transmissions would work with this motor, staying automatic. I figure since its a d series any d series transmission would work, but i'm unsure of 92-95 as apposed to a 96-00
If its an HX its CVT, they were well known for transmission problems. There is nothing else that will swap in its place (other than possibly the JDM CVT/Multimatic transmission found mated to the JDM D15B 3 stage Vtec) both for electrical reasons and weird mount issue.
well she might have lucked out. Supposedly now its working fine. A mechanic friend drove it for her and said everything works fine. She probably had it stuck in one of the low gears 1 or 2 and didnt notice it. Damn teenage girls and their crazy driving
Those trannys are troublesome. Best bet for her would be to have the fluid changed with Honda CVT fluid. That usually helps with shutters and poor shifting.
Um, a CVT doesn't have low gears to be stuck in. It never shifts.
