Question on HX tranny
Im thinking of buying an automatic 97 HX with a messed up tranny. My question is, do all HX's have CVT transmissions?? If so, would it be possible to swap in a transmission from another trim level (Plug and Play)???

What makes you think that?
All of the civic HX's with auto tranny's are CVT.
Putting in a manual tranny should be just the same as any other auto to manual swap.

Yes, that was the whole design purpose in the Auto HX civics, the new, revolutionary, shitbox we call the HX cvt.
It's likely one of the worst auto tranny's honda ever made.
If it's compatible I'd go with a regular auto tranny. I don't know enough about auto's to give you more insight.

Re: Question on HX tranny (khalafrommy17)
you full of ****. hx trans have a bracket that goes from the tranny to the top of the frame rail... its not like regular auto or manual tranny. if it was an ex auto all you have to do is change the tranny mount.. but hx dont even have a tranny mount.
I just did my wifes auto hx converted to 5 speed. and i had to buy a small bracket that bolts up the the tranny mount. got it from honda( forgot the part number) its triangle shaped and is spotted welded on manuel and regular autos ek's frame rail.
had to weld it and also the tranny mount just wont bolt up. the holes are coverd so you have to tap and but long 17mm bolts that come out to the wheel well and add nuts. thats the way i did it and it work out for me.
even if you decide to add a regular ex tranny you still have to get that bracket weld it and get an auto tranny mount and tap bolt it down..
there is no way around it. unless you wanna spend 700 dollars on a pos cvt tranny that goes out every 2 years...
I even decided to ditch the motor and bought a jdm b20b with gsr tranny.
Car runs great.. It was all worth it. only spent about 2000 on the motor, trans and 5 speed conversion parts. labor was free i did it all. And i've only done 1 single cam swap. So if I can do it so can you.
