Default B16 Compression? Leakdown Test?

I have a b16 with 140k miles on it, the bottom end was rebuilt with new rings, bearings, rods, etc. however the head has 143k on it and the car burns a lil oil in vtec, so i did a compression test today and got 120 110 110 and 90 and I know that is way too low, anyone know where the lost compression might be coming from? Or how do i do a leakdown test? thanks a lot

did you do the test the correct way, is your gauge in good working order, have you checked for a valve adjustment?

the oil burning is just you head gaskit... not ur reason for lost of compression..

cuz my head gasket is bad and i smoke pretty bad on VTEC.... but mine came out 180/180/180/180

o rly?

although that is possible, oil consumption is most often related to fried piston rings and deteriorated valve seals.

to OP: those are really low compression numbers for a b16. while testing, how many revolutions of the engine did you crank it over? if the test was accurate then i would look at your timing possibly being off. if their is no problem there then maybe consider doing a cylinder leakdown test as well.

I cranked the engine over 5 times and ya im pretty sure the gauge is working correctly, which makes me tend to believe that as you said it may be the valve seals because the piston rings were replaced about 30k miles ago and the head is stock with 143k on it, also the car burns oil in vtec and doesnt pull like it should, either way im gonna do a leakdown test with a buddy soon, to find out........thanks
