Default need help tuning turbo sohc crx

I am running a stock SOHC crx 1.6 si
Greddy TDO4 turbo and down pipe
starion intercooler at 7.5 psi boost
thats about it, its a very simple setup
also I am at 210 psi compression, I dont think thats too good????
my problem is in first gear, it seems to build boost fast, but then when it gets to max boost it just starts to hesitate and run like crap, and I am only at about 4K on the tach. it also does this at the max boost in the other gears sometimes. but in first gear it is at full boost, and it just doesnt seem like the car is moving. anyone have any ideas

210 for a compression test on an a6 is excellent. sounds like you're leaning out. thats what i would expect if you have a stock fuel system.

did you set the btm at all? Like try .5 degrees per lb??? or did you just leave it off? Try that and see what happens.

What about plugs? Gap? Do you have a fpr or afc? Maybe you are too rich up top?

Also, if thats a autometer gauge (not to be rude) but those things aren't too trustworthy, I don't think I would rely on them too much for tuning purposes.

I have set the BTM it does it at all settings.
I have changed plugs. and I have gaped them, what should I do widen the gap, or shorten it?
it is a autometer that I am useing, so it probably isnt a good idea to bank the house on it, but my exhaust is black a all hell, and its puffing some black smoke at the top of each gear, not much, so I think it is running rich.
any ideas on what I should change?
thanks

Sounds like you're rich. What injectors are you running? If they are stock I don't know what to tell you. I don't have any experience with those wacky fmu's.

I always hear **** about the autometer a/f gauge. I don't know why. They are volt meters just like the any fancy *** 400 dollar gauge that reads off the stock O2. It will tell you if you are above 14.5:1 or below it. That's it. There is no gauge that will read any better so get off autometer's *** people. Sorry, but I'm sick of hearing how bad the autometer gauge is when it's absolutely no worse than the exotic gauges. It's a good tool because it will tell you if you have a catastophic lean out and that's good.

I think Im running way too rich, I guess I should just try another disk in the FMU, may be a 10:1. I am useing stock injectors.

Oh my god, been there done that!! I had the same problems. Here is your steps to fix the problem.

First, get a fuel pressure gauge that you can see while you drive. Basically you will find the 12:1 is too much if you have a 255 pump. You will want a 10:1 and keep the boost under 7psi or the fuel pressure is nasty high. I recommend running at 6 psi max with FMU.

Check your stock idle pressure, i bet you will see 45 psi or higher. You will need to turn the pressure down with a B&M and even have to drill bypass hole ala TOO. E-mail me if you want more info on the setup. I have been where you are.

dude, man your running rich... the engine is getting flooded with fuel. be glad that you have black smoke and not blue or white.(blue-oil, white-coolant,black-fuel)
what are you using for fuel managent?

by the way stock injectors will do unless you go more than 10psi.
