how much can i boost my sohc?
right now i have a 00' sohc w/ a custom T25 kit boosting @ 5psi. i was wondering how much can my stock internals take? will a INLINE PRO head gasket help me to boost higher? right now for my fuel setup i have stock injectors, Bosche hp inline pump, and a Vortech 12:1 fmu. what will i have to do to be able to increase the boost a little bit more and still be reliable?

I know a guy with a D15B running 8-10 psi. but remember it has to be done wisely, and you have to know how to tune. you just don't put a boost controller on there and up it to where you want it. Definetly get your self an EGT and A/F gauge to monitor your engine.
Oh yeah he is doing this with out a standalone, only an FMU, and fuel pump. Ran it all last year no prob at 8psi no prob. Although towards the end of the summer he broke a ring land (can't remember which cylinder) when he pushed the boost too much. Good thing for spare parts hey.
This year he is hoping for 12psi daily with no intercooler either, but he is running an alcohol injection setup.
Good luck with it.

I agree with D-Man, boosting on the SOHC is fine as long as you plan it out and use a standalone. Then you can really pump some power out of it!!

I boosted 17psi....
.. for 2 seconds on a d15b7. i dont think I need to tell you what happened though.
7psi max on stock internals w/o standalone is somewhat reliable.

Re: I boosted 17psi.... (Pritos)
ive been running 9psi daily on mine for about 6 months
been running fine
i plan on getting a standalone unit, probably the aem ems one and some new injectors
i want to try to get 12's
i might take the risk of pushing it to 14 psi but then again i have a greddy kit and im not sure if it can take that much abuse all the time
so maybe just 12 psi daily and at the track up it to 14

Definitley get an A/F and EGT gauge. If you can tune right you should be able to run up to 1 bar with little worries.
