Default calling GREDDY SOHC turbo guys...

i have a greddy kit. still stock DP that came with the kit. stock pipes that came with the kit. read my sig. for all the other crap. it takes forever to spool? 1st and 2nd its like 5300 before full boost (10psi) and 3rd & 4th its about 4600. anybody have any idea why the lag is so bad?

what rpms do you guys hit full boost at... and what is a brief description of your setup... how much boost? help me... TIA

o yea..... i know all of my pipes are tight too....

maybe the turbo is going bad? when i was boosted at 7 psi, boost started building around 2500-3000 rpm and i reached full boost around 4500 rpm. when i ran at 5 psi, boost started building around 2300 rpm.

what gear was it hitting 7psi at 4500 rpm? i think the reason 1st and 2nd are higher is cuz its not under enough of a strain to build pressure fast enough. but if that is 3rd gear, im building 3psi at the same rate you did 7. was your turbo going bad? thanks for replying by the way.

Did it just start doing this or has it always happened?

Mine hits full boost by 3800 rpm's. I have GReddy IC, stock DP, random cat, 3" exhaust, FMU, missing link. Do you have an exhaust gasket leak somewhere?

ummm... i had this kit on this same engine in my crx for 3 days in the beggining of december. had an fmu, the black box, some broken sensors, no boost controller, no gauge. but it was supposed to be 5psi stock. this was with stock crx cat, 2.25" cat back, stock dp. it started to pull like 2600ish in every gear and felt like it had full boost about 3500.... died off at 5k. wrecked the car (got hit head on) o yea, i had no IC either..... it was an old school non i/c kit.

now, same turbo, same engine, same dp. no cat, 3" exhaust, hondata, dsm 450's, same stock pipeing......1st gen dsm SMIC (1.75" inlet and outlet) on 10psi.... if i am at about 2k rpm and start to push the pedal hard, it will start to build boost about 2500-2700... but only like 3psi buy 3100ish.... 10psi by 4600. (3rd gear floored)

Sounds reasonable... Perhaps the crappy intercooler doesn't flow to well

every gear, every day. full boost was always at 4500 rpm for me, both at 5 and 7 psi in gears 2-5. but i sold the kit to dubniK. . . .

yea, thats the only thing i can think of that is slowing it down any, but i watched a 1st gen talon... stock pipes, IC and everything, had a apex n1 2.5" exhaust, and a K&N filter, from 2k rpm floored in 3rd... hit 10psi by 3k rpm.... and that was full boost. and it made 234 whp. thats just not fair.. i want 10psi by 3k rpm.. that would be crazy. granted i know the talon is moving more exhaust pressure to spool a little faster, but 1600 rpm faster... come on!!!!

i think i am going to test the IC theory tomorrow. put the J pipe back in its place that came with the kit and see if it spools faster. if it does, ill replace the IC, and look around for a better flowing FMIC this time.

my z6 has the b-series 18g kit on it.. boost starts building at about 3k.. full boost of 8lbs is at about 5k.. thats in 1st gear only cuz when i shift, i mean im riding the redline anyways going all the way to 3rd gear... so i dont really notice a lag in power after 1st gear... it does suck at the track though.. i gotta stage at 5200 to have the sticky tires keep the revs up instead of them falling down to 3k where there is tons of lag

something is wrong....maybe a leak somewhere....i have a 14b on my d16 and i start to spool at 2100rpm and full boost *10psi* at 3100. i have 2.5 dp and 3inch piping. oh yeah a boost controller will help the spool up alot... i used to hit full boost at 4k and with my homeade boost controller on i hit full boost at 3100.

i have joe p manual boost controller...... would the locations of vacuum line make a difference? i have greddy type s BOV. bottom nipple on the BOV goes to the compressor nipple of turbo. wastegate actuator is hooked into the boost controller, then that is T'd in with the top nipple of the BOV.... which goes over and gets T'd in with the vacuum line from the FPR...... which also has the boost gauge tapped in with it. i need to find another vacuum line to pull from.... i think maybe all of that crap coming from the FPR vacuum line could be hurting it? but other than the 3 vacuum lines cming from the charcoal canister... there arent many options...

I have a greddy 15g kit on my z6 and don't hit full boost(9psi) until around 4500 or above.

the reason it is hooked up this way is so the BOV doesnt flutter. makes it sounds cleaner.... if i unhook it, where should i run the compressor housing nipple to? i heard people say they lost boost top end running it to the wastegate actuator.
