yea, well my engine got flooded with fuel somehow and i got all the gas out and the car would only run on 2 cylinders.

cylinders 2 and 3 are not combusting.

i used a noid light and checked for the injector pulse and thats good

put a spark plug in the end of the wire and touched it to metal and thats good

compression is fine 180, 182, 185, 181

why the hell is it only running on 2 cylinders if i have fuel, spark, and compression????

this is really frustrating

everyone i tell this too is as confused as i am, i was hoping maybe you guys would help me out

Just a guess but you should also check the injector oring to see if it ripped. If it is it also can cause you to misfire.

yea, the orings are fine

oh here is a list of everything i checked/replaced

distributor, cap, rotor, coil, plugs, wires, injectors, injector resistor box, ecu, set the timing, traced all the ecu wires making sure they were hooked up right and soldered, i even adjusted the valves.

ive done just about everything besides pulling the motor apart which i really dont want to do.

oh yea its an 88 CRX DX with a zc motor and turbo.

unless i missed something, how exactly do you know you are running on 2 cylinders? you said you checked fuel and spark so what leads you to think this?

Yeah make sure that it goes 1-2-4-3, (NOT 1-2-3-4) if you're looking straight at the distributor, and starting with the bottom-left wire. I know you're not dumb, but I've been known to do something lame like that. Oh, and Cylinder 1 is closest to the cam gears.

Are you sure your plugs are firing? The wires may be good, but that doesn't mean it'll fire. How did you check your coil?

I was running 2 cylinders on accident on my last POS car....I got about 50 miles to the gallon. Then I got it fixed...boy did I miss filling up every 500 miles.

Just wanted to share that.

i know its running on 2 cylinders because when i pull the plug wires from 2 and 3 the motor doesnt die down, when i pull the wires from 1 and 4 the motor dies down.

the plug wires are in the right order.

i checked the coil by replacing it with a new one.

put in new spark plugs...it may have caused those 2 that got flooded to foul..

if that doesnt work then pull off the plug wires and crank it over then pull out the plugs and smeel for gas.


also how did it get flooded in the first place..maybe thats the prob.

already changed the spark plugs, and thats how i got the gas out was by taking out the plugs and cranking it.

i dont even know how it got flooded before, i think it was my fuel pressure regulator, i was using a really old weapon r one so it might have taken a ****.

all 4 cylinders smell like gas, and i used noid lights to check if the injectors are getting signal.

anybody else got ideas?

just did another compression test and got different numbers this time, maybe i did it wrong before or something.

185, 150, 180, 182

my rings are probably fried in the one cylinder. but the compression still isnt low enough to cause this, ive seen engines with 60psi compression still run. somethin strange is goin on inside my motor.hmmmm......

Just a guess, what ECU are you running?

how many times are you turning your engine over? is your engine hot at the time? did you stop fuel from being injected during the test? are all the spark plugs out during the test?

im turning the engine over 3 times

no i didnt stop fuel from being injected, maybe i should it like that and see what i get

the engine was warm, not really hot

and yes, i had all the plugs out

oh yea, its an 88 integra ecu, but i also have a crx si ecu i tried both and it didnt make a difference

my uneducated opinion is look again for spark on those 2 cyls.pull the wire off of the top of the plug while the car is running, u should hear hte snapping of the spark crossing the gap. if not lok into it more.

get an electric meter and check for resistance in the injectors
it sounds fuel related.

ok guys, i am a certified retard. i cant believe i did this myself, i feel like such an ***.

i had the plug wires in the wrong order. hahaha. i feel so stupid.

i was looking at the distributor cap wrong and had cylinders 2 and 3 switched.

god i just waisted the last week and a half busting my *** on that car and it turned out to be this stupid.

oh yea, i need a TPS and an O2 sensor now, i think when it flooded it fried them because my idle jumps from 1000-2500. and my air fuel gauge isnt reading properly.

Flooding two cylinders would not ruin your TPS. Your 02 sensor might be crapped up, but they seem to be pretty resiliant.
