Default Compressor housing slop?(GT30R)*Video*

Hey all, I don't know much technical stuff about turbos but I've had a few cars with them and most of them haven't done this.

When I rev my B18c turbo up the entire inlet side of the turbo vibrates. Upon further inspection, the entire compressor housing(The big side, silver in color in case I'm calling it the wrong part) is loose. I can spin it around(If i disconnected the charge piping), I can pull it back and forth.

I'm very worried this is gonna destroy my*relatively new* gt30r turbo... The b18 is in a CRX with a peak boost Ram-horn manifold. Currently tuned at 17psi.

Any help is most appreciated...

Thanks!

I took a picture and a video for you guys.

I'm not trying to drive the car anymore, It's just a little fun project I picked up to drag race with once in a while. So it can sit as long as need be.

Mind you the car boosted great last time I drove it. In addition, there is no shaft play.

The joint where the slop is located is indicated with the red box.

Here is the video:

Wow. that's not just the bolts, the whole backhousing assembly is loose. there should be 4 bolts that attach the backhousing to the center section itself. Are those missing in any way?

If you look at the picture I posted the smaller box is around what looks to be a bolt hole.

It's empty, I'll see if there are 3 more like it.

Yep, 4 holes.. empty.

Can't wait to talk to the place who built this.

Thanks so much for the support.

Anyone know where I can get the 4 bolts?

Those bolts can be found, but the size depends upon the backplate. Where did you purchase it from? That might be the best source to put this together.

I purchased the car from a kid who just recently had the car put together by innovative tuning in buffalo ny. I'm sure it wasn't the kids fault.

They may have just backed themselves out over several thermal expansion cycles.

Bolts do weird things when they see temperature extremes.

I've had plenty of turbo bolts need to be safety wired to keep them from backing out. O.o

Does anyone know where I can get these 4 bolts from???

If not, can someone give me a measurement on how long they need to be(Thread) and how fat they need to be?
