B16 Block GSR head Question
Ok I bought a crx about 2 weeks ago. And the engine in the car is a b16 block with a GSR head. So why is the engine set up like that? What are the pros and cons about it?
what kind of intake manifold? is it a p72, and if so, are you using a gs-r ecu?
if there's a way to make the two-stage intake work on that little super-rev'r motor, may be there's a way to compensate for the lack of torque.
more compression for sure.

But i wanna built a N/A motor. Would it still be a good idea to keep it??....cause i want built the enigine. Is there more people running this setup???
This is good for all motor right now because you have high compression. what b16 block do you have? If it's a b16A with a GSR head, that compression will be crazy. Also, what transmission is on the car?
is only .02 compression higher from the b16 head if your using stock internals.
let say b16 block & head compression ratio is 10.1
then with gsr head is 10:3

stevenDAtegra- stop posting, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.
b20blkcivic- he's running N/A not boost. While your setup is impressive, it really has little to do with his setup.
The GSR head gives a .2 bump in compression only. It's port design tends to give better transitional response and a combustion chamber that is less prone to detonating etc. The GSR head is a good head and there's no need to remove it from your engine.
The JG intake manifold may be a poor match to your engine if it's a similar design to the Victor X style. Another style of intake manifold might be better especially if you have cams. You'll need some type of engine tuning system to really benefit from any mods though.

I found that with stock bottom end, your pistons rub ur head after 9000rpm due to the stretch in the rods! I had skunk2 stage 2 cams and a built head and revved it to 9300rpm. I think it was due to not having the 0.015" indented areas on the gsr head that the pr3 has cast in? Just be aware thats all matey, i had two big end failures from this. Marc
^^^lol
you ran a b16 piston/rod into the head with those tiny cams? me thinks you had some other issue when the motor was assembled. or a very weird combo of parts.
did you ever measure p2v before you put it together?

Back to the point. Your gsr head is fine, ditch the IM and get a skunk of blox IM. Good day.
Ok cool cause i have a b16a block and a p27 head. I looking to trade the JG im for a skunk2 or blox one But i need the person who trades me to install the mani too.
Then wat kind of mods should i try to do? Just treat it like anyother swap or should i foces more on the head or block? Imma go get it tuned because it prob isnt tuned yet.
