Why put a GSR head on a B16 block?
I'm just curious.
Wouldn't you want a GSR head to be on a LS block? I can't figure out why some people buy a GSR head and put it on a B16 block.
Please explain why.

It raises the CR up to about .2 .....so if stock was 10.2:1 with the head it'd be at about 10.4:1. I was gonna build one and use CTR pistons as well....but got caught up in rebuilding the B18C instead.

wouldnt the b16 head flow better?
The difference between the 2 are minimal at best when opened up. It's just a matter of preference, and options such as ITR manifold vs. Skunk2 unit.
Also, when you use the Skunk2 ITR/GSR manifold, the angles are all wrong, and the flow is not as smooth as a ITR manifold on a B16A engine.

I've been told by many head porters, that the GSR in factory trim flows better than the B16. It's only when you start to port & polish the head, that the B16 shows it's true colors.

Gotta match port the GSR head to the ITR/skink mani to get the best gains.
MMMmmm... GSR head on B16 block... Near perfect R/S, great top end, better low end tq (dual stage), lower vtec enagagement (need GSR ecu and vac lines) Why NOT do this ?
