Default Upcoming Build critics/comments/suggestions

ok so im finally done paying of some bills, so now i can start saving up to start my build..
i got some plans and i need some input on them im hopefully gonna have most of these by around the holidays

i got a 00 si right now stock motor with a couple bolt ons but with the money im bout to be saving im planning on boost...
goal is ~300whp reliable since its my daily...

to start of this is wut im planning on getting:

Stock B16a2... for now and planning on working on internals later since ive been told the stock motor can hold strong for my goals

Peakboost FTW Kit
-Peakboost Ramhorn
-Garrett T3/TO4E
-Tial 38mm wg
-Peakboost Intercooler 2.5" inlet/outlet
-Tail bov
-Peakboost 2.5" charge pipes
-Peakboost 3" dp
RC 550cc Injectors
ARP head studs
Walboro 255lb Fuel pump
LS 5th gear for the freeway driving

thats it so far... im more worried about making it reliable than fast so some input on the things to keep it in tip top shape would be appreciated... even the little things.. thx!

i dunno if i missed it, but what about engine management?

But the turbo kits good, and your injector, head studs, fuel pump all seem like good mods to do. I just say grab some good tuning software and your golden.

well im not sure about chrome, but my shop has a pro-am civic on neptune and does a little over 800 to the wheels so ide say neptune is deffinately good. I myself run the AEM management system

Get whatever your tuner is comfortable with, whether it be crome, neptune or hondata. Whatever your tuner has worked the most with will probably yield the best results.

You should check out eCtune. It's an absolute joy to tune and has all kinds of good safety and performance features like overheat protection and gear/rpm based boost control...and it's $175 right now.

thx for the input on the tuning ill definitely look for a good tuner near my area and see if he can work with me on my build... with my power goal should i think about getting a better IM and TB? or anything i should prep and better before i start working on internals?

An intake manifold would help but if you swapped over to GSR Cams you would pick up a good chunk of power. A used set can be had for $50-$75 and you would probably see the same gains you would see by upgrading to a $300 aftermarket IM.

If you happened to pick up a set of GSR cams and a VictorX or Skunk2 IM that would make your goal easily within reach with a healthy b16 and would also give you a beefier powerband since the GSRs tend to add a lot of torque down low.

well thats definitely going in the drawing board lol.. thx for that helpfull bit of info.. also the local shop i go to has a type r head sitting in the garage i can maybe get some parts off of.. would any of those parts be beneficial to my build.. like would the type r cams be better than the gsr cams? usually when i think type r i think all motor high compression so im a bit clueless.... my motor i believe is healthy 64k original miles! i take good care of it and im actually picking up a new set of lost motion assemblies for it this week... im really into getting everything ready and planning it out so i do it right the first time without having any problems

Only 64k, thats gotta be nice. But yes ITR cams are better the only reason I didn't reccommend them is because with ITRs you have to have either ITR or aftermarket valvetrain. ITRs Love boost. I've seen people gain 40 some torque alone just by switching to ITRs from B16 Cams.

hmmm ok so if i went with GSR or ITR cams should i change the cam gears aswell then? i will be getting some lower compression pistons later later on if that matters at all maybe the rods too lol i want an indestructible motor even if i dont plan on pushing it... i want that thing to survive a nuclear bomb

i found MINIMAL changes in power when trying to degree CTR cams on a unopened 1.6 CTR motor.

s300, aem, neptune, ectune all good choices!

They're always nice to have, they arent a necessity, ask your tuner if he cares.

i would try to stay away from an ls 5th gear on a b16. the motor just doesn't make enough torque to keep speed.

hmmm but as ryan said if i changed the cams with IM i should get a bit more torque? wouldnt that compensate enough? or would it still be too low

If it's gonna be a daily driver it makes more sense to switch it to an ls so hes not rolling down the highway in full boost the whole time. So unless you plan on doing any seroius racing I wouldn't worry about it. Just my two cents.
