I just did this friday afternoon. If youre talking about the whole shifter, you're gonna wanna have at least 1 more person to help you out. Youre gonna want to take out the center console, and all of the rubber surroundings of the shifter. Then, you're gonna pull your car up onto ramps, because you will remove the shifter from underneath. When you're under the car, have your friend move the shifter so you can see the location, and you will see a bolt (13mm i believe) that holds the shifter in. You are going to unscrew this bolt, and detach the shifter from the linkage. After that bolt is out, you will notice 2 smaller bolts holding a plate that surrounds the shifter. This is where your buddy comes in handy. Have someone in the car grab the top of the bolts with pliers while you unscrew the 2 nuts (10mm) from underneath the car. THen,just pull the shifter down, and its out. Installation is just the reverse of removal, if you have any problems, shoot me a PM and ill be glad to help you out. It took me a total of 30-45 minutes working on it with my dad, only because i had to take my bumper off in order to get up on the ramps. SO good luck!

A b***h is right... I've been calling it the "b***h pin" for longer than I can remember. 8mm punch, or if you have air, an air hammer will take it out in about .5 second.

Unless the bolt needs to be hammered in due to it being such a snug fit I wouldn't do this. It usually results in seriously nasty shifter slop.

I second this! I've lost the pin before and had to resort to a bolt for a temp fix, the shifter had about 3 times the normal travel from side to side, VERY sloppy!

were you guys using a bolt with a shoulder on it i used one on my other ef and i had no problems i just went threw all my miscellaneous bolts with a digital caliper and starting measure bolt until i found one that was slightly smaller than 8mm i think it was something like 7.89 or something like that the shifter had no more play then normal and i just had to give it a little love tap with a hammer to get it out i mean sure you still have to hammer it out but it's easy cuz your hitting a bolt now not a pin and punch.
