Default Shifter Problem

i have done searched and none of them answered my ?

here is the problem. tonight when i hopped into my car to leave work i was messing around with my shifter. and i pulled up on it and it moved up like a inch. i pushed down on it and it moved back down like an inch. now would that have to do with the actual shift linkage or the support bar under it? thanks for the help

i have a dc sports short throw shifter

ur bolts under the shifter its prolly not tighten all the way. take ur console out and pull it up and down, u prolly can see if its lose or not.

could be the bolts that hold your linkage up to the car that might be loose...or could be the bolts that hold your shifter to the shift linkage itself. get under it and take a look while somone above pulls on the shifter

so i took the console off tonight. had my dad push up and down on the shifter and the damn thing is sliding in and out of the bushing that goes around the ball of the shifter. the triangle thinger that is held up by 2 10mm bolts is bent. could that be the problem. we tried to bend it back to normal which we came close but isnt perfect and now the shifter is rattling so bad you can hear it over my loud annoying exhaust.
