Default F22 Build....

I remember reading on this forum once before about someone who put new pistons in their F22 without resleeving the block. Who was this? How is it holding up? Any compression lost on a compression test?

I think that was me. I was boosting 12psi and spraying 100, so far my sleeves are holding up. But I blow my headgasket, so im changing it out right now and waiting for my new t3/t04e turbo to get in. My compression is still in spec.

12 psi? i hope you have more than just pistons in there....your skinny assed stock 'cord rods won't hold that much pressure for too long plus the 100 shot...damn dawg...i'd like to see some dyno sheets, and also, i'd go with the straight t3 for your configuration...it'll kick in quicker and is tunable enough to give you a good amount of power up top...anyways,

edit: also, which intercooler, fuel management system, and injectors are you using? or is it an fmax kit or something like that?

the t3 will plateau and stop building power. 2.2L is a lot to be pushing a lil t3.

You cant do a compression test with a blown head gasket.

I have been told and have also read that you are "suppose" to resleeve f series and h series blocks before installing new pistons because they dont come from the factory with iron sleeves. I would really like to avoid resleeving if I can get away with it not loosing compression and not having any blow by. I only plan on running 10-12 psi on this block, so I am hoping this will work on mine.

Also, there is a formula to properly size a turbo to a specific motor and for the f series it comes out with a t3/t4b, which is what drag and fmax both use. A t3 would be WAY too small and would lose efficiency fast.

Heeeeeeey guy. A t78 works. A T3/T4 would be the best though.

The T3 would be way to easy to overspeed and just plain get f-cked up on a 2.2L.

Sorry about the long delay in replying.

You cant do a compression test with a blown head gasket.
I did a compression test after I replaced the head gasket.

Owell replying to the earlier post, this what i have in the motor:

Internals:
JE pistons 8.5:1 (.20 over)
Crower Rods
Ferrea SS valves
Ferrea Spring/retainers

The block is bored .20 over.
The head has was rebuilded, three angle valve job.
That about it on the motor.

I currently running a f-max kit.
f-max kit includes:
a t3/t04B , but I have a t3/t04E coming it should be here tomorrow hopefully.... why because my t3/t04B was old, plus i wanted a new different spec turbo for my setup.

Go here to see what I have with the rest of the kit.
http://www.f-max.com/hondacuraturbosystems.htm

I also upgrade my factory injector is RC 370cc.
I'm using a VAFC to control my fuel.

I was spraying a 100shot, due to the fact that my car was an automatic... (don't worry i had my reason why i didn't convert to a 5spd). *Note* my 100 shot is a direct port setup. Here is a couple of pictures during the buildup, there not up to date yet, but you'll will get the picture. Also this was 3 months before i blow up my motor.

Well i could go on on on forever with all the stuff that i put in my car. I big waste of time and money.... heheheheh owell you have to pay to play. Sorry i don't have any dyno charts yet. I have done all my own work except for the machineing on my block. So have made some mistakes along the way. This is my third motor. heheheh. I think i have all the buds out of my system now. 400 hp here i come hopefully...

Ferrea SS valves
Ferrea Spring/retainers
Can you help me with where you got these? I've been looking for awhile.

I got them from a company called race engineering. I went through hell getting them. The valves were easy to get, but the spring and retainers........ well they don't really make them for the sohc vtec motors. They have them for the sohc non-vtec and dohc motors.

Can someone help me out here? How do you bore a motor out that doesnt have factory iron sleeves? Can someone shed some light on this? Can the f and h series really be bored out?

Yes they can, just get oversize pistons and sleeves.

You can sleeve the block to a 2.5 liter or so but you'll have to get custom pistons and a headgasket.

Heres a company that does the sleeving:

I know about golden eagle sleeves, but that is $1000 to have the block sleeved and shipped both ways. Is it possible to just replace the the stock pistons with Race Engineering's 8.8:1 pistons and not have the block sleeved??? I only plan on running mild boost anyway.

If you can clean up the cylinders and stay within the F22 oversize bore limit (.25 over...85.250-85.260mm, .50 over...85.5-85.510mm).
Per honda factory manual...Reboring limit .050mm max

Please explain. Boring over would make a worse seal with the same pistons/rings.

I cracked two pistons on my first setup. When I was doing the build up. I decide to go with oversized pistons.
