Okay, i'm helping one of my buddies post.
He lowered his cars with new shocks and springs, but soon after he lowered it.
I'ma ssuming a couple of days/weeks his car started to squeek bad.
It's the same car as mine, Civic 2000.
Question is: Could there be ANY way that it'll use up your lca bushings more with aftermarket parts? thanks

More than likely the bushings he had are original.... and seeing as how the car is at least 10 years old, they are probably worn out. You can't "use up" bushings, but they do eventually go bad and need to be replaced. That's probably why you have the squeaking. Best bet is to replace them, or man up and deal with it until you do.

 

BTW if you do end up replacing the bushings there is a really easy way to get them out without using a press. When I did mine all the shops said they wanted 100 to press them. I just used a hole saw to get the inner metal sleeve out along with most the rubber. Then just use a sawz all to cut the outer sleeve in two spots then just hit the sleeve with a hammer and screw driver and it will slide right out. It worked out really good for me and was quick. The worst part was all pieces of rubber covering my garage

 

i got similar problem. so how much does it cost to get them bushing replace anyway? since im not experience with car at all.

 

My bud's integra was squeking too, he got a energy suspesion kit and replaced the front end bushings and the squeking stopped.

If he was to do it all over again he would just swap the front LCA bushings...but for the price, might aswell get the whole kit.

 

But the for my friends problem, it seemed that it only went bad after he got the suspension setup, anyone know why or is it just coincidence? thanks.

 

because the rubber bushings got used to being attached at a certain angle, now with it lower they are tweaked in angles they aren't used to. so every bump they complain

 

That would only happen if you didn't pre-load the suspension before tightening the bolts all the way. If you pre-load the suspension, the bushings wont be twisted, and wont wear out as fast.

 

So you got them out and the shop pressed them in? Cuz if you got a trick to getting them in I want to know LOL. $100 just to press them in is alot.

 

When I did my own bushings, I pressed them in myself. I used aftermarket polyurethane bushings which came with the grease so maybe that's why they slided in so easy (actually, I did it a while back, can't remember how easy it was really). It was time consuming especially getting the old ones out because you have to cut them but getting the new ones in was easier, IIRC.

Also, if you put a stiffer suspension in there, it will destroy the bushings even more and maybe cause that squeak you're hearing.
